Inside KBIS 2025: The Innovations Shaping Home Design

The NKBA Kitchen and Bath Show is one of the industry’s most anticipated events of the year, bringing together incredible brands, designers, builders, and manufacturers. With thousands of booths and an atmosphere filled with inspiration, this year’s show left us buzzing with excitement for what’s to come. From bold maximalist styles to eco-conscious design, personalization, and cutting-edge innovation, we are sharing some of our favorite trends from KBIS.

Induction Innovation

Induction technology continues to evolve, and this year, we saw new advancements that are redefining the kitchen.

Impulse Labs’ award-winning induction technology is featured in the new Impulse Cooktop, integrating battery packs, custom inverters, and an industry-first temperature sensor. Delivering an impressive 10kW of power per heating element, it can boil water in under 40 seconds—a significant jump from traditional induction cooktops that range from 2.5kW to 4kW and take about two minutes to boil. Additionally, this cooktop offers precise degree-level temperature control, adapts to international electrical standards, and even functions during power outages, enhancing home energy security. Needless to say, Impulse is looking at powering something even more than delicious dishes.

Jenn-Air introduced a downdraft ventilation system integrated directly into its induction cooktops. This eliminates the need for bulky range hoods while capturing smoke and steam at the source—before it rises. Not only does it offer a seamless design aesthetic, but it also operates quietly and works five times faster than steam can rise, ensuring a cleaner and more enjoyable cooking experience.

Biophilic Design

The concept of biophilic design—integrating natural elements into interior spaces to promote well-being—was a dominant theme at KBIS. Many booths embraced organic materials, lush greenery, and nature-inspired aesthetics, signaling a strong trend toward more calm, wellness-focused home environments. As we move into 2025, expect to see more homes incorporating natural textures, earthy tones, and indoor-outdoor fluidity to create a relaxing atmosphere.

Wellness at Home

Health and wellness continue to be top of mind for consumers and designers, and KBIS showcased a variety of innovations aimed at improving home environments—both physically and mentally.

Kohler’s sleek new cold plunge ice bath, designed in collaboration with Remedy Place, is a product that aligns with the growing trend of cold therapy, known for its recovery and health benefits.

Several exhibitors also introduced next-level filtration systems to ensure clean drinking water, tackling contaminants like lead, chlorine, PFAS, pesticides, and microplastics.

From spa-inspired bathrooms to kitchen technology that enhances water quality, wellness-focused design is no longer a luxury—it’s an expectation.

Maximalist Design

Color is making a bold comeback, and the industry is jumping all in. At KBIS, maximalist design was in full force, with impactful wallpaper, vibrant tiles, and statement-making color palettes taking center stage.

One standout was Café Appliances, where expressive colors, finishes, and patterns set the tone for a more vibrant, personalized approach to kitchen design. According to the NKBA Kitchen Trends Report, homeowners are seeking more personality and individuality in their spaces—an open invitation for designers and brands to push creative boundaries.

Strategic Brand Collaborations

Brand partnerships were a major highlight at KBIS, demonstrating how strategic collaborations can elevate both design and marketing.

One of the most talked-about moments was at the GE Monogram booth, where a fully customized Lexus was unveiled, featuring Monogram products and design elements. This collaboration was created by designer Richard Anuszkiewicz, fusing a luxury kitchen with high-end automotive innovation, creating a seamless cross-promotion opportunity for both brands.

Other collaborations like SMEG x Dolce & Gabbana and Café x House of Colour further prove that when two brands—often from completely different industries—align with a shared audience, the results land a big impact.

As we reflect on this year’s KBIS, we are inspired by the innovation, creativity, and passion shaping the future of kitchen and bath design. We can’t wait to see how these trends evolve and continue to influence the spaces we live in.
